If you don’t water, expect dead areas in the spring.

Speaking for Dallas, water 1/2 inch every 10-12 days and especially if we are expecting the seldom freeze.

Now go drink a beer and relax

Question by emt3992: Fall Lawn care next step?
I live in nj.. its fall and not exactly cold out yet but getting there. I typically do the scotts 4 step program of fertilizing. I recently used a power rake and de-thatched my yard. I probably should re-seed after de-thatching as it’s pretty thin now. What should my next step be? I have heard diff opinions.. some say re-seed and fertilize, some say lime it before the winter, some say just the fertilizer with winterguard. Any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by diego m
yes re-seeding is very important right now but over do it cause you will lose 25-30% of the seed, before that give one last mowing set to low and leave the clipping it will give you a slow nitrogen release for the winter. If you are sticking to scotts step program just follow it and you will be fine

Question by rapha76: Fall lawn care in Upstate New York?
I would like some advice as to what to do about my lawn so that it looks good in the spring. Right now the lawn has a lot of weeds and some bare spots. Basically, I need to grow new grass, feed what’s already there and prevent weeds in the spring but I don’t know when and what I should apply to do this. Please don’t recommend a lawn care company. I am not looking for the perfect lawn but I know there are things I could be doing to improve it. I have a spreader and I’m all ready to get to work. Thanks for your help!
